Patricia Morris # 32 - Class of 2018
Oregon State University 2019-2021
Texas Christian University 2021-2022
Patricia gave DHS not only a great post player with size that intimidates opponents the minute they step off the bus, but a highly coach-able kid, one who was a great teammate to all. When you look at the raw numbers, Patricia ranks in the top 3 all time in scoring, rebounding, & block shots in school history at Duarte.
I think an absolutely tremendous feat for a kid that was a swimmer & tennis player 1st, basketball player second when she arrived on campus. We have all heard that old adage of " you never miss something until its gone", this is definitely what Falcon fans will have to experience during the 2018-2019 season with Trish not roaming the paint.
Patricia was not given enough credit by some lookers on, but this writer can tell you that with all of the skills that she now possesses, she is definitely one of DHS basketball's great's. Anyone who doubts her ability to adapt , take a look at her 1st dunk (that's circulating as we speak on the web) while just playing around at the women's basketball facility at OSU.
Her game is going to continue to grow as time moves along because she works harder than most. All of Duarte wishes Patricia the best throughout her collegiate career.

I can remember when I was first introduced to the then 6'4" 13 year old Patricia Morris. Shy, a little reserved but extremely bright and well rounded. Even as a 13 year old she had her priorities in order. Patricia excelled in academics and always placed them before athletics. Being a three sport athlete, swimming, tennis and basketball, she seemed to be able to do anything she put her mind to. Coming from a very loving and structured home, Patricia would find all the support she would need from her family. With Patricia's parents, Kevin and Emily Morris both being educators they emphasized education and always provided their children with the resources to succeed. She is currently ranked fourth in her class academically with a stellar 4.4 GPA. Morris averaged 17.3 points, 12.7 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game during her high school junior season. I had the privilege of coaching her through the Adidas Grassroots Gauntlet on a joint venture of Skill Set and OC Elite Basketball. Seeing her maturation and growth, not only in size, which is currently 6'7" but in skill and IQ has been marveling. She has truly become a complete player. I can't wait to cheer her on in the orange and black of the Oregon State Beavers.

BALDWIN PARK — Patricia Morris of the Duarte High School girls basketball team is 6-foot-7 and is supposedly still growing. Her height comes from her parents, Kevin, who stands at 6-5, and her mother Emily, at 6-3.
The freshman admittedly is still a very raw talent.
“Throughout this season, she has improved a lot and it’s been fun,” said junior guard Mackenzie Barnes, who had a game-high 22 points. “We’re getting used to her more and more and she has so much potential.”
That also held true in Friday’s final Montview League game as the visiting Falcons defeated host Sierra Vista, 67-49, to finish the season 10-0 in league and 19-7 overall.
Riley Thompson had 21 points, while Del Angela Fabro of Sierra Vista (7-12, 4-6) had a team-high 16 points.
Morris started slow and missed some layups and free throws, but did have some very impressive blocked shots.
She ended up with a triple-double, with 11 points, 11 blocked shots and 10 rebounds, which is indicative of her first varsity season.
“I’m learning how to be more aggressive and I can learn how to deal with that,” Morris said.
On one in bounds pass, two Sierra Vista players were jumping and waving their hands in the face of Morris, who easily grabbed the pass.

DUARTE – Playoff matchups usually entail a mad dash to acquire information on an often unknown opponent.
That wasn’t the case Tuesday night for the Hart girls basketball team.
They knew all too well what a matchup against Duarte represented. The Indians fell to the Falcons in the second round of last season’s CIF-Southern Section Division 2A tournament.
They knew a rematch meant another meeting with 6-foot-7 Oregon State signee Patricia Morris.
And for the second straight season, Morris, who had a game-high 24 points, and the Falcons put an end to Hart’s season, beating the Indians 68-58 at Duarte in the first round of this year’s 2A tournament.
“She’s a tough assignment,” said Hart coach Terra Palmer of Morris. “Our intention was if she was around the rim, we were going to double down on her and let their kids make plays.
“For the most part, I think our kids did exactly what we wanted them to do.”
Trudy Larkins, who was returning after missing two games due to a concussion, and Aly Kaneshiro did an admirable job in trying to contain Morris. Both stand under 6 feet tall.
The game was tied 16-16 after the first quarter and following six lead changes in the second quarter, Duarte (17-10) went into the half with a 30-27 lead. Morris had 12 of her points in the second quarter.
“She’s always a common denominator of anything that we do,” said Duarte coach Beverly Ball-Powell of Morris. “It’s important to get her the basketball because it opens up everything else for us.”
Morris’ stellar second quarter opened the door for Duarte’s wing contributors to begin the second half. Delaney Thompson had eight of her 20 points in the third quarter.
The Indians cut the deficit to eight with 42 seconds to play on a layup from Haylyn Nguyen but that’s as close as they would get following the third quarter. Annie Christofferson led Hart (14-14) with 18 points and Emma Allen followed with 15 points. Allen also had a team-high eight rebounds.
“They were all in and ready to play,” Palmer said of her team. “Sometimes the ball just doesn’t go your way.”
Christofferson ended her time with the Indians by hitting a layup at the buzzer to close out the game.
“I think we came out and started really hard,” Christofferson said. “We lost it a little bit in the second quarter and never got it back. But I’m so proud of this team.”Kaneshiro and Larkins combined for 20 points and Kaneshiro had a team-high five assists to go with seven rebounds

This question was posted on UCLA Bruin message boards about Patricia in 2015:
Feb 23, 2015 Does anybody know anything about her?
http://www.sgvtribune.com/sports/20150213/duarte-girls-basketball-patricia-morris-cap-perfect-montview-season
I went to see her on the last Saturday at Duarte at CIF SS in between Arizona school games, and was very impressed (played about a half of each quarter getting about 10 offensive rebounds and 10 forced miss shots defensively.
She could be one in a decade type of player (Riverside North's Miller in 80s, Morningside's Leslie in 90's Chino Hills's Taurasi in 00's), I thought.
At minimum, she is better than freshman Imani Stafford at Windward, I thought.
So UCLA has no shot at her?
Her team will be playing at Harvard Westlake on Wednesday (a bit closer).

The Beavers are coming off of an elite 8 appearance at last years NCAA tourney. What a tremendous environment for Trish to be stepping into.

Year two starts for Patricia after a freshman campaign that saw her get positive minutes
Sophomore campaign 2019-2020 for Patricia has begun in grand fashion, first OSU's European tour this past summer. Now at the start of the year, the Beavers were among top women's college teams that were included as opponents for the US Women's basketball national team on their recent tour to get ready for the 2020 Olympic games (All games being televised live nationally). This should be a big year for the beavers as they start the season in the top ten nationally.

TCU Women’s Basketball adds Oregon State transfer
By Melissa B. Triebwasser@TheCoachMelissa Jul 31, 2020, 10:30am CDT
TCU Women’s Basketball season was unceremoniously cut short last spring amid the COVID-19 pandemic, ending what would have been an NCAA Tournament worthy-season for Raegan Pebley’s squad.
When the season ended, so did the careers of several impact seniors, including some talented forwards. That sent Pebley on the recruiting trail, and she found a promising prospect in the transfer portal in the likes of former Oregon State Beaver Patricia Morris. “We are so excited to welcome Patricia to TCU! Her leadership traits, energy, dedication to being a great teammate, love of the game, commitment to academics and growth potential are all reasons why we believe she will find success here.”
A 6’7” (!!!) forward, Morris spent two years in Corvallis after an impressive high school career in Duarte, CA, There, the four star athlete led her school to four straight league titles on her way to being named an all-state player twice and competing for a state championship in 2016. She averaged a double-double in her career, including over 17 points and 13 rebounds per game as a junior. She was also proficient on defense, blocking nearly three shots per game.
Morris played in 46 games for the Beavers, where she notched career averages of 2.0 points and 1.4 rebounds per game. She shot better than 64 percent from the field and was a 73 percent shooter from the free throw line.
This past season, Morris scored 2.3 points per game, which included a season-high 13 points in a Pac-12 Conference game against Cal. She was a perfect 6-for-6 from the field and 1-of-1 from the free throw line in OSU’s 81-44 rout over the Bears.
“I am so excited to start this new chapter of my life at TCU,” Morris said. “Coach Pebley, her staff and my new teammates have welcomed me with open arms. I am ready to develop and play under such a great staff and teammates.”
It is unclear if Morris will be eligible to play this year or if she will need to redshirt after transferring. Whenever she does end up seeing the court, she will be an exceptional addition to a team on the rise.
